How Beyul bags work

How Beyul bags work

Beyul sustainable laundry washbag on a shopping bag with water reflected on to it.

Beyul laundry wash bags help to catch microfibres before they enter the ecosystem. Use it with your clothing that contains polyester, nylon or any other man-made fabric that contains plastic.

Laundry tips

  • Place your synthetic clothes inside the washbag, zip it up, and place it in a gentle cool wash.

The gentle cool wash and washbag also help to prolong the lifespan of your clothing.

The washbag works best when half full, so the clothes have space to move around.

  • A cool, gentle cycle works best with both the clothes and washbag, as it helps to prolong the lifespan of both the bag and clothes.

  • Not neccessarily! We recommend placing non-synthetic clothes in the same wash, in order to balance the laundry load.

  • The microfibre tends to collect in the corners (especially the top corner) of the washbag.

Simply retrieve them from the corners and put it in your normal rubbish.

More about Beyul wash bags

  • Beyul bags are built to catch microfibres down to 0.05mm, thanks to its fine weave.

  • They’re made of polyamide.

Although Beyul bags are also made of plastic, the way they’re made is as a monofilament, meaning that it does not unravel and shed microplastics.

You’ll note that our bags feel different from normal fabric - this is because the way our bag fabric is structured is as a single round smooth yarn, as opposed to the softer feel of clothing, which uses thinner threads twisted on themselves. Over time and use, these twists slowly shed, causing the clothing to lose microplastics.

I have so many questions

  • We recommend anything that contains plastic microfibres - this can include polyester, polar fleece, nylon and acrylic. This usually includes gym clothes, some underwear and casual daily wear.

  • By catching what microfibres we can, and disposing of them in our rubbish, we’re preventing them from entering our waterways while they’re large enough, affecting our fauna, food supply, the water we drink, and the air we breathe.

  • We’ve thought about this a lot. A LOT a lot.

    1. We trust that everyone is aware of what they should/could be doing, and sometimes this isn’t possible for everyone. This is especially informed by where Beyul is based, in Vietnam, where the price of entry and affordability are not readily accessible.

    2. Gym gear made of recycled plastic bottles is also still made of plastic that eventually breaks off and enters our waterways.

  • 10% of our proceeds go towards protecting and cleaning up the waterways in Vietnam.
